Springing into action

First daffodil spotted!

And you have to hand it to Edinburgh Council - They know how to do massed crocuses:

Back at home spring preparations are nearly complete. Not a moment too soon...

....because the heat is on!

  4. Oh Mal - I wish I was in Edinburgh! Your photos are spectacular! The crocus lawn is lovely. I had planted several hundred crocus in our front lawn years ago, but thanks to the growing trees, it's now shaded and we only get a handful (which are promptly picked by young hands!). Your beds are also fantastic - just as Bren says.. a dream.

  5. One thing I always love about going into Edinburgh in spring is the crocuses =)

Looks like your propagator is cooking up some potential garden goodness, too!

  7. Bren, You need to compare the last picture with the on I posted before http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-0opvKakTdgM/TWgYePUuPSI/AAAAAAAAA_o/nJh9PClgtao/s1600/germinator+021.JPG

I'm a veg grower - but flowers have their place - especially in natural settings and parkland. Talking of picking crocuses (horror) I caught a TV programme about saffron, and it set me wondering....

The propogator is winning me over by producing results - and it's really not hot at all. We had a sharp frost last night. I just need a greenhouse now to move the plants into - Something for next year?

  10. Oh my goodness Mal, I love the massed crocuses, aren't they lovely... I'd love a meadow filled with them somewhere near me...

Your finished garden beds are looking lovely, I really do wish I could have a brick one somewhere at mine, but I don't think it's going to happen.

What's under the lid in the last photo?
